This year, Maddi had the incredible honor of receiving the Emma Rader Memorial Scholarship, which opened the gate—quite literally—to a full season of riding at Horses with Hearts. From spring through fall, she rode with joy, confidence, and a growing sense of independence.
She absolutely loves coming to the farm. Just the sight of the horses and the open fields fills her with excitement. This year, she got to ride Sommie, Urkel, and Kissa—each one bringing something special to her journey. And to Maddi, they’re more than horses. They’re trusted friends with soft noses, gentle hair, and a calming presence that makes her feel like she can do anything.
That’s the magic of Horses with Hearts.
Beyond the saddle, we’ve seen something even more beautiful unfold. Maddi is growing more comfortable around others. Her communication skills are blooming. There’s a new spark in the way she expresses herself—a confidence that’s been nurtured with every ride, every interaction, and every encouraging word from the team.
